The trays themselves are similar to the plastic retainers you may have heard about, but these are not for straightening teeth. We use impressions of your teeth to make sure the trays are built to the right shape for a snug fit.
The trays are meant to hold a whitening gel to your teeth. The gel can combat the stains and help brighten up your smile.
If you happen to notice an increased sensitivity in your teeth as you use the gel, do not worry. Tooth sensitivity can sometimes happen, but it should not be much of a bother and it should go away. The gel can also irritate your gums, but with careful handling, you can avoid getting the gel on your gums. Even if it does happen, it should also not last very long and should not cause lasting discomfort.
